Undulating fairways and greens and plenty of water hazards add an extra layer of challenge to the game, rewarding those who carefully calculate the risk vs. reward shot value. Top Tips:
1. Pretty much every hole has water, you are either on the fairway or in the mangroves, so make sure you take plenty of spare golf balls.
2. The golf course closes at 4 pm (for the last few years) despite it getting dark in Cancun at 6.15 pm at the earliest, so book your Tee-Time accordingly.
3. It´s a challenging course with 4 different Tee Boxes, maybe consider playing a forward-positioning one to make it easier.
4. Due to its location over the mangroves mosquitos can be a problem so bring some repellent.
Strategies for Conquering the Toughest Hole:
Navigating hole number 3, marked with a challenging Handicap (HCP) of 1, demands a strategic approach. The Tee box configuration is particularly unforgiving, posing a watery hazard for any shots veering into the slice territory. To mitigate risks, consider stowing away the Driver and opting for a more controlled hybrid off the box.
This Par 5 hole boasts a narrow fairway and strategically placed bunkers, making it imperative to rely on your reliable "go-to" club to secure a safe spot in the middle of the fairway. With a bit of luck, you'll find yourself facing a straightforward wedge shot for an easier approach to the green. A couple of well-executed putts, and you could secure a respectable par.
However, in the wise words of Mike Tyson, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth!" A more likely scenario is:
You´ll spray a few balls into the lake, then get annoyed at 4 paring on the undulating green!, Although the thought of abandoning golf might cross your mind. Fear not! Remember, the green fee comes with the added perk of complimentary food and drinks. This might just be the opportune moment to crack open that first beer of the day and take a moment to recalibrate.
